Let’s get ready to rumble!
No…it’s not Ant and Dec but the fighting machines that are Spencer Burrell and Darren Barker that will be rocking Round Table to the rafters.
It is now just a matter of weeks before these two go toe-to-toe in the boxing ring – to be crowned the king of Norfolk in front of 500 Tablers and a public demanding BLOOD!
The contest will well and truly add some punch as a major highlight of this year’s National Sporting Weekend extravaganza in Norwich.
Tickets are expected to reach colossal sums on the black market – so if you haven’t got yours…then you may just be able to sneak one!
Ahead of the bout, Tabler caught up with the main protagonists to find more about them!
Spencer Burrell is NSW Chairman
Darren Barker is Area 6 chairman
Darren Barker said:
What’s the toughest fight you’ve ever had?
Thinking of the fight with Spencer, I don't think that will ever venture in the same league as previous opponents, such as my 10 year old or six year old sons! They really do have a mean right hook and Lewis being a karate champion at just six is making to be a tough sparring partner!!!
What can the crowd expect to see you from?
A good old fashion brawl lots of effort, lots of passion, lots of sweat....and blood.....not mine of course!!!
As mates, how do you feel about going toe-to-toe?
How would you describe your boxing style?
Destroying and life threatening!!
Now that it’s getting closer – how do you actually feel?
Training is hard.....dieting is destroying me......and no alcohol is life threatening!!
Darren…what’s your biggest concern?
We don't have the same outcome for Spencer as what happened to him at Conference in Harrogate. (Do tell…Ed)
What are your trainers’ first impressions?
Jackson Williams our trainer has already said three months training? You need three years!!
Have you got a boxing a nickname?

What’s the toughest fight you’ve ever had? - I have been married 20 years, need I say more?
What can the crowd expect to see you from? Blood sweat and tears (mine)
As mates, how do you feel about going toe-to-toe? Mates? Also we are from Norfolk so that is a lot of toes in a boxing ring.
How would you describe your boxing style? Organic, with an essence of panic.
Now that it’s getting closer – how do you actually feel? Knackered and sore. Training 2- 3 times a week is taking its toll.
What’s your biggest concern? Ensuring that I give a good show and I do not look like I should be in 41 Club.
What are your trainers’ thoughts/first impressions? If they could talk they would wonder what has happened as they have spent the last ten years kept in the bottom of my wardrobe only to be used once a year for the Area 5 a side. (It was supposed to his boxing trainer but hey...punch drunk already)
Have you got a boxing a nickname? Baby hands Burrell
