There was a mad dash to sign up for the 2017 Southport Mad Dog 10k race after registration opened on Friday night.
The event organised by Southport Hesketh Round Table has space for 2500 entries, but incredibly by Sunday evening there were just over 100 spaces left for the race on February 5th 2017.
This is the 7th edition of the popular run.
Just 300 people took part in the first event, back in 2011 and since then the race has gone on to become one of the most popular 10km races in the UK, winning accolades on a regular basis at the National Running Awards.
All proceeds from the event go to a number of local charities, with the Round Table group raising over £45,000 in the past.
Organisers have promised a great day with plenty of live entertainment, as well as goodie bags and medals for all those who take part.
Runners are also encouraged to follow this year’s 007- Live and Let Drool theme and take part in fancy dress.
