Two unusual vehicles drove from Downend in the South West on June 4th for a 1600 mile journey.
The cars were driven by six members of Downend Round Table who took part in the Banger rally challenge in aid of the It’s in the bag testicular cancer charity.
The rules were simple: nobody must spend more than £300 on a car it is suggested that people who take part have a “strong sense of excitement and adventure…as well as a penchant for fancy dress”.
Two cars started the journey – one a Citroen Picasso covered in blackboard paint, the second a Rover 618 fashioned as a batmobile.
Travels took them through Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco and France with challenges to complete along the way.
Tragedy followed just 24 hours when the Rover affectionately known as Dudley gave up before the journey was over. However, Pablo soldiered on during the weekend and is now in quiet retirement in France.
It’s difficult to put all the highlights into words, so we’ve compiled a few photos for you to peruse to see for yourself how much fun these guys had at the weekend – whilst raising money for a very worthwhile cause.
…and our ours will never adjust the to pictures of Mr Incrediballs!
There is still time to chuck Downend a few quid for their efforts and it all goes to a fantastic charity – even better! https://www.justgiving.com/Downend-Round-Table/
