Barnstaple Round Table take the Birdman crown

The flying penguins of Lundy took the Ilfracombe Birdman crown this weekend with their aerial display off the pier.

The event, which was free for the first time in a decade, saw thousands of people gather for a day of music, beer and the famous birdman competition.

Round Table groups competed for the longest flight – and were joined by Tangent President Alex Voller as she flew off the pier dressed as a bumblebee and 41 club Councillor Kevin Chard who wore a rather English themed costume.

Other entries included a bicycle compete with movie-alien ET and the Red Barrows – dressed like the famous Red Arrows pilots

BBC Spotlight also gave some great coverage to Ilfracombe Round Table for the fantastic event that was organised.

You can watch the extended highlights online here - well done to Ilfracombe Round Table and all Tablers involved.
