Santa's Sleigh Does It Again
Round Table Say Thanks
We’ve all heard a lot about how bad the weather was in December… and it was bad… but it takes more than a bit of bad weather to keep Santa off the streets.
Even though his route plan and a few dates might have had to change, Airdrie and District Round Table’s annual Santa’s Sleigh run managed to get around just about every area planned… and the response from the people of Airdrie, Coatbridge and the surrounding villages was, as ever, fantastic, with over £9000 raised.
Round Table Chairman, Colin Williams (pictured above with Santa) said, “ as most people know Santa’s Sleigh is by far our biggest charity fundraiser of the year. If Santa was off the streets it would be a major blow to us and would severely limit our ability to give much needed assistance to local groups, charities and good causes during the year ahead. However, with a lot of help from our friends at TOM, and Santa himself, our Round Tablers made sure that Santa and his sleigh completed his route in some very challenging conditions, ensuring that this tradition, approaching it’s fortieth year, didn’t fail. On behalf of everybody at Airdrie and District Round Table, I’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped out, gave of their time and most importantly donated to our funds.”
Round Table would like to thank the Directors and Management of TOM Airdrie for their help with vehicles, transport and repairs to the sleigh as well as a special thanks to Alan Easton (Rudolph) of TOM. Thanks also go to Martin Plant Hire in Coatbridge who yet again supplied the generator that powers the lights and sound. Without the generous support and help from these local companies, year after year, operating the sleigh would be much more difficult. Last, but certainly not least, we’d like to thank Santa for breaking into his hectic schedule at the North Pole to come and visit us in and around Airdrie and Coatbridge, bringing smiles to thousands of people on the way.
