Give it a go!

Once you've found your local club on the club finder, use the email us webform, they will arrange for an existing member to pick you up and take you to a meeting that's convenient for you. This will give you the chance to meet everyone and get a feel for the club -- there may be several in your area, and each will have its own personality and unique atmosphere, so trying more than one will help you find the club that's right for you. We have all been the new boy so you will be made to feel very welcome. It is a group of friends who you haven't met yet. You will be under no obligation to do join there and then.

Think about joining

Once you've been to a couple of meetings the members at your local club will spend some time explaining what kinds of things they do socially, the week-to-week rhythms of the club, and where they focus their community involvement.

Take the plunge

The final step is t that you are enrolled into your local club. Depending on the club, this can in itself be an experience

Philip Murray is a 30-year-old pharmaceutical replenishment controller who joined Margate Round Table in 2009. He had a very memorable enrolment:

"My joining was in fact at 1,344 metres (4409 ft) above sea level on the peak of Ben Nevis on 19th June 2009 - the day before my 30th Birthday, an unbelievable HIGHlight. This was part of our sponsored Three Peak Challenge in aid of Diabetes UK and our own Margate Round Table Wish Appeal.

"We faced the elements and our chairman Matthew Jury performed the windy and (unconfirmed) highest Round Table welcome to date. The added bonus, (other than being handed my Round Table badge) was the extremely well-travelled and snow-cold beer!

"I could not have hoped for a more welcoming group of guys to become a part of, and encourage any other Round Table member to challenge my up-in-the clouds-welcome!"
